NEW BRIDGE APPROVED FOR CIRCLE DRIVE IN SAN MARINO

LOS ANGELES COUNTY – The Board of Supervisors approved funding for the replacement of Circle Drive Bridge, a century-old structure spanning Virginia Road in San Marino, announced Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich.

The $3.8 million project will replace the existing bridge with a structure designed to meet modern building standards.  Featuring decorative lighting and architectural details along the barrier railing and exterior girders, the new bridge will be 135 feet long and 46 feet wide and accommodate two lanes of traffic, one in each direction.

The start of construction is tentatively set for spring 2015, and the project is expected to take approximately nine months to complete.  Traffic notifications will be posted along Virginia Road, Oak Grove Road, Mill Road, and Rosalind Road at least 24 hours prior to any planned road closures.  Access to Virginia Road may be limited periodically during construction, at which time only residents will be allowed.  Other motorists will be rerouted to Shenandoah Road during these closures.
