Dominic Ng, chairman and CEO of East West Bank, has been elected to the USC Board of Trustees. He has served on the university’s President’s Leadership Council since 2013 and is a dedicated supporter of the USC Pacific Asia Museum.
Based in Southern California, East West Bank focuses on markets in the United States and Greater China. Under Ng’s leadership, it has transformed from a small savings and loan association into a full-service international and commercial bank with assets of $27.6 billion.
“Dominic Ng is a visionary business leader who has distinguished himself not only through his professional accomplishments, but also his commitment to philanthropy,” said USC President C. L. Max Nikias. “His expertise and international perspective will be a tremendous asset to USC as we work to advance the university’s global mission in education, research and public service.”
Ng also serves as an independent director on the board of Mattel Inc. and is a board member of the Committee of 100, having completed his term as chairman this year.
Ng has long devoted himself to community service. In 2000, he became the first Asian American to chair the fundraising campaign for United Way of Greater Los Angeles. His campaign raised a record $66 million and now serves as a model of best practices for United Way chapters and other charities across the country.
In recognition of his career achievements and civic leadership, Ng has been named one of the 25 most notable Chinese Americans by Forbes, one of the 100 most influential people in Los Angeles by the Los Angeles Times and Business Person of the Year by the Los Angeles Business Journal.
Ng was born and raised in Hong Kong. He moved to the U.S. to pursue studies at the University of Houston.
Prior to joining East West Bank in 1991, he spent 10 years as a certified public accountant with Deloitte & Touche. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Houston, an honorary doctor of law degree from Occidental College and an honorary fellowship from Lingnan University in Hong Kong. He resides in Pasadena with his wife, Ellen, and their two children.
