On Sunday, October 5 at the Villa Esperanza Services 18th Annual Achievement Awards dinner the San Marino Chapter of the National Charity League (NCL) was presented with the Robert Loebbecke Volunteer of the Year Award. The award was bestowed to the San Marino Chapter of NCL for their years of dedication and support they have shown Villa. The harvest themed celebration took place at La Salle High School and included pumpkin decorating, dancing and dinner. The evening culminated with awards presented to Villa’s Adult participants.

“Our participants and staff all look forward to this event each year. It’s an opportunity to honor all our adult clients in celebration of achieving their goals,” shares Villa CEO, Kelly White. “The event is also very special to our volunteers and we are extremely grateful to San Marino Chapter of the National Charity League for their continued commitment and investment in Villa’s clients. We are delighted to present the Volunteer of the Year award to them. They are an amazing group that go above and beyond to make our clients feel special.”

NCL is a non-profit organization dedicated to the mission of mothers and daughters serving communities together. Villa’s affiliation with the San Marino Chapter of NCL began over 15 years ago. Since 1999, they have donated over $36,000 in grants and in-kind gifts to Villa. Additionally, the girls and their moms have contributed countless volunteer hours hosting events for Villa’s clients, providing needed supplies for classrooms and programs and most recently hosting and supporting a social club for Villa’s adults. San Marino Chapter of NCL is a key supporter of the Annual Achievement Awards. They donated pumpkins for the table décor and their volunteers assisted with set-up and execution of the event. Through Villa’s Service and Social (SAS) Club lead by NCL Ticktockers Madeleine Coppersmith and Pia Montanez, along with Carly Hittner, clients decorated pumpkins and made fall wreaths. The volunteers then joined Villa’s adults in dancing to a live band.  “The NCL San Marino volunteers add so much to our event” shares Margaret Morris, Villa’s Volunteer and Special Events Coordinator. “Our clients love the activities they do with them.” This year, as a special gift, each client received a Villa logo t-shirt thanks to a grant from NCL.

Accepting Villa’s Robert Loebbecke Volunteer of the Year Award was current President of the San Marino Chapter of NCL, Cynthia Scannell. Also present and helping with the event were members Julianne Coppersmith, Michelle Mendez, Maria Sarry, and Nancy Hittner.
