Kibbutz Dance Company at the Wallis Nov. 19-21

Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts presents Israel’s Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company (Rami Be’er, Artistic Director) for three performances only, November 19 through 21, 2014 in the Bram Goldsmith Theater.

Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company (KCDC) is widely identified with the work of Artistic Director Rami Be’er, whose singular choreographic character has become the company’s trademark, both in Israel and abroad. With its technically strong and physically eclectic cast of dancers, and its dynamic sensibility, KCDC epitomizes Israeli dance at its best. The company performs regularly in esteemed theaters and at leading festivals around the world.

KCDC will be performing its famed piece, If At All, a moving theatrical event brought to life in figurative and abstract circles. “The piece deals with the issue of our existence,” explains choreographer and Artistic Director Be’er.  “We start as individuals, and then enter into society as couples, and then groups, all of us connected to life in the here and now.”

KCDC was established in 1970 in Kibbutz Ga’aton, situated in the Western Galilee of northern Israel.  One of the leading dance companies in the world, KCDC has developed a thriving and unique “International Dance Village,” a place unlike any other where the dancers live and work together to create, be inspired by and celebrate dance.

Said The Wallis Interim Artistic Director Patricia Wolff, “Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company is extraordinary and unique in the performing arts world, with works that reflect a passionate community of dancers who live and work together, and their shared experience in a company created and cultivated in Israel. From their dramatic founding in 1970 to today’s contemporary pieces, KCDC truly is dedicated to viewing and interpreting the world through dance. That is something we believe will be extremely moving and compelling for visitors to The Wallis.”

Subscriptions and single tickets are available at www.thewallis.org or by calling 310-746-4000 or in person at The Wallis Ticket Services located at 9390 N. Santa Monica Blvd., Beverly Hills, CA 90210.
