California Art Club at the Old Mill

There is no better way to explore the best that California has to offer than a road trip, and in 2015, the California Art Club will dedicate its exhibitions at the California Art Club Gallery at The Old Mill to this classic American pastime.

The first “Road Trip” exhibition – Unrivaled Grandeur: California’s National Parks – celebrates the Golden State’s most beloved natural treasures, as the crown jewel, Yosemite, celebrates its 125th anniversary.

On view from January 13 to May 3, 2015, this display will showcase nearly 40 works created by 26 plein air artists, who took to the road in search of stunning vistas and charming scenes at California’s national parks, seashores and recreation areas.  A reception with the exhibiting artists will be held on Thursday, January 15, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Highlights of the exhibition include breathtaking imagery of Yosemite, from the dramatic peak of Half Dome to its lush valley, as well as works that highlight the unique geological features and biodiversity of life that exist throughout the state, as California’s national parks span coastal regions, mountain ranges, forests and deserts.

“As California boasts more national parks than any other state, it is only appropriate that, as Yosemite marks a historic anniversary, we pay tribute to these iconic natural wonders with Unrivaled Grandeur: California’s National Parks,” says Madeleine Aguilar, exhibitions coordinator for the California Art Club.

All of the participating artists in the exhibition are juried members of the California Art Club and include John Budicin, Alfonso Colocho, Donald Crocker, Linda DuPas, Esther Engelman, Reif Erickson, Terri Ford, David C. Gallup, Carolyn Hesse-Low, Debra Holladay, Sibyl Johnson, Anna Kelly, Chuck Kovacic, Frank Lennartz, Elaine Mathews, Sherrill Miller, Michael Obermeyer, Richard Probert, Rodolfo Rivademar, Junn Roca, Linda Rogers, Michael Situ, W. Jason Situ, Robert Steele, Milly Tsai and Karen Winters.

All works are available for acquisition. After the opening of the exhibition, the artwork may be viewed online at californiaartclub.org.
