Frawley to Leave San Marino for Santa Cruz Fire Department

San Marino Fire Chief Jim Frawley – who through a three-city, shared fire command also oversees the South Pasadena and San Gabriel Fire Departments, has accepted the same post in Santa Cruz.

“This was a very tough decision,” Frawley said late last week, requesting his intentions be held in privacy until he could inform others. “This is what my family has wanted for a long time. We have long wanted to live in that area, where you can own a large piece of land, live near the beach as well as the city. This is a dream come true for my wife, Kelly and me as well as our two boys.”

Frawley will assume command of the 80-member, four-station Santa Cruz Fire Department later this month. Of particular interest to Frawley is that the Santa Cruz Fire Department maintains a marine division for its harbors, wharfs and coastlines; manages the city’s lifeguards; is responsible for disaster preparedness and also oversees fire protection at the University of California, Santa Cruz.
