Veteran Mark Phillips assumed the role yesterday of interim fire chief for the communities of San Marino, San Gabriel and South Pasadena following the departure of Chief Jim Frawley, who next week will take command over the Santa Cruz Fire Department. Frawley had been the first chief of the three-city regional fire command agreement which was established a year ago.
Phillips was chosen last week by the city managers of the three cities.
“Moving to this next command step and having the pleasure of servicing these three formidable cities is an exciting new challenge,” Phillips told The Tribune. “I look forward to the extended learning, effort and continued focus towards our citizens and staff who serve.”
