Award-Winning USC Professor Addresses Government Students at SMHS

Dan-Schnur

By Mitch Lehman

Dan Schnur, director of the Jesse M. Unruh Institute of Politics at USC, dropped by San Marino High School on Wednesday, May 27 to speak with students in Peter Paccone’s U.S. Government class, where he encouraged the young people to consider a career in politics.

“It’s like I tell my students at USC – you don’t have to sign a 50-year contract, you just have to give it a try,” said Schnur, who was a 2014 candidate for California Secretary of State.

That dovetailed into a dictum he referred to as the ‘Schnur Rule for Career Evaluation.’

“If you like what you are doing, keep doing it. If not, do something else.”
