DRC Asks Applicants to Bring Back New Designs

Owners of the Gothic house at 1135 Winston Ave. have once again come before the Design Review Committee with plans in an attempt to construct a new two-story residence, but DRC members were not fully convinced the house would be consistent with itself.

The case from the May 20 DRC meeting was continued.

Residents are well acquainted with the home and it is even an example in the city’s residential guidelines. Therefore, when the project originally came before the Design Review Committee without the gothic facade, no one wanted to see it go. Designer John Barber changed the plans entirely to keep the front and instead create an addition to the home in the back, which committee members agree is a challenge to design.
