Huntington Middle School Student Performs at Club Nokia

By Stacy Lee

Huntington Middle School student Stephen “Myles” Keys recently performed at Club Nokia in downtown Los Angeles to an audience of more than 500
people.

He sang with The Miracle Group on May 20 at the Temple Grandin &Friends event benefiting Autism Works Now.

“It was a really great experience to perform in front of an audience so big,” Myles said.

“I’m speechless,” Myles’ mother Stephanie Keys said. “I’m very happy.”

The 14-year-old has come a long way since he was a toddler and his mother Stephanie Keys discovered he was on the autism spectrum.

“He was completely non-verbal,” she said. “He was pushing, hitting, shoving and biting. As he got older, he still wasn’t speaking. When he was around 3 or 4, I started singing to him.”

The power of song and music became an important aspect of Myles’ life because he then sang back to his mother.
