Huntington Middle School Orchestra Wraps Up Season

By Stacy Lee

Huntington Middle School Orchestra is wrapping up an award-winning season.

Its Farewell/Graduation Concert was held Friday, May 29 in the HMS Auditorium.

“Our Farewell/Graduation was a great success and we had a rousing performance by our very talented musicians who played a wide range of musical selections, ranging from favorite classical pieces to popular movie themes,” HMS Orchestra Booster Chair Susan Malhotra said.

“Our final ‘Farewell’ concert, as it is titled each year, was bitter-sweet as usual, because it marks the final chapter of middle school orchestra for our eighth graders,” Music Director and Conductor Rob Folsom said. “Most of the graduating students were in the program all three years, so as a teacher, I got to know many of them very well.  Fortunately, I began teaching a section of orchestra at the high school last year, so now I can look forward to teaching many of them next year. I guess it’s not as bitter as years past.”
