San Marino Community Still Searching for Answers In Murder-Suicide

By Mitch Lehman

With little official information being disseminated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Dept., community members filled in the blanks themselves regarding the tragic murder-suicide last Friday morning that involved two members of the San Marino High School graduating class of 2009.

Joe McMahon and Brandon Rafiepour, both 24, died fourteen hours and thirty miles apart, both reportedly at the hand of Rafiepour, who allegedly gunned down the former ‘Deadliest Catch’ producer shortly after 2 a.m. in Chapman Woods before taking his own life in Brentwood later in the afternoon. According to several sources, McMahon and Rafiepour were friends during their days at San Marino High School and football teammates their freshman, sophomore and junior years. McMahon continued his senior season and Rafiepour did not.

McMahon and Rafiepour remained at least acquaintances over the years until the events of Friday night.
