Well over 1,000 people have come to the 2700 block of Monterey Road to get ideas for their gardens in the past four years.a
Cordelia Donnelly, who lives on this street in San Marino resolved to create a garden that would be beautiful, interesting and sustainable. It has been available for viewing for three years now.
“I never imagined planting a garden could be the most important thing I’ve ever done,” she said stating the garden gives her an opportunity to teach people.
With the statewide drought, Donnelly said the No. 1 change that will make a real difference is to remove a conventional grass lawn. Donnelly said there are many advantages to taking out a lawn including reduced lawn maintenance, reduced yard waste, reduced noise pollution and reduced air pollution plus a reduced water bill.
