Olivia Harrigian and her father, Mike, recently enjoyed a common experience, albeit one separated by 35 years.

Olivia, a senior-to-be at San Marino High School, was a delegate to California Girls State, held last month at Claremont McKenna College.

Mike–a 1981 graduate of San Marino High School–attended Boys State in 1980 at California State University, Sacramento.

Olivia served as a page for the Assembly and Senate at the prestigious program that constructs a mock state government for the 500 delegates and is sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary.

“I really enjoyed listening to and learning from everyone’s legislation in the Assembly and Senate,” Olivia told The Tribune. “At the end of the week, I was selected to be Homeland Security Advisor to the Governor.”
