A San Marino man has put out a call for all veterans to join a new community group that will meet for the first time on Sept. 9.
United States Marine Captain Lawrence Fu, a 1999 graduate of San Marino High School and veteran of the War in Iraq, is spearheading an effort to unify former service men and women at a monthly meeting that will be held in the Barth Community Room of the Crowell Public Library on the second Wednesday of each month.
Fu has modeled the organization based on his experience at San Marino’s Memorial Day ceremony, which also honors local veterans.
“You can see that whenever veterans get together, they love to tell stories,” said Fu. “We are looking for an opportunity to hear personal experiences during your time in the military and learn about American history from a personal perspective.
