Talent Showcased at Monrovia Art Walk

By Krista Daly

Abstract art holds the emotions of Hoofrish Patel.

“There are two aspects to why I do abstract art,” she said.“The color and you’re not drawing something that’s already there.”

“It’s pulling from me,” Patel added stating the colors and the pattern formed on the canvas show what she is feeling.

Patel is one of many artists who displayed work at the Monrovia Art Walk on Saturday, July 25, hosted by the Monrovia Association of Fine Arts. Pasadena, South Pasadena and other cities surrounding the San Gabriel Valley each host their own art walks throughout the year.

“It’s really cool having other people appreciate your art,” she said. “It’s kind of empowering.”

Rene Rodriguez said he had always been an artist. Nearly 14 years ago, he and his daughter Sarah ended up learning from the same teacher.
