The Encore Saxophone Quartet has rescheduled their Magical Music at The Mill appearance for Saturday, Aug. 15.
The Encore Saxophone Quartet is among Los Angeles’ premier ensembles and is regularly featured on LACMA’s prestigious Sundays Live! series. Encore Saxophone’s Musicians include Douglas Masek, Soprano Saxophone, Ken Foerch, Alto Saxophone, David Brennan, Tenor Saxophone and Damon Zick, Baritone Saxophone. Individually, all of the members are noted soloists and chamber music artists who perform with all of the leading Los Angeles orchestras including the LA Philharmonic. They can be heard on the soundtracks of numerous movies and TV shows. This is a rare opportunity to see Encore Saxophone Quartet perform in the San Gabriel Valley.
Highlights of the program include classical pieces such as J. S. Bach’s “Little” Fugue in G minor, and Caryl Florio’s Quartette (Allegro de Concert); and a selection of more contemporary composers such as Astor Piazzolla, Pedro Iturralde and Nigel Wood. The second half will include selections from composers Harold Arlen, Richard Rodgers, and John Carisi with a medley of George Gershwin’s “Porgy and Bess” to conclude the concert.
Concertgoers are urged to have dinner before they arrive and enjoy a beverage at the no-host refreshment bar before the concert or during intermission. Chairs are provided and the musicians are only steps from the audience. The gates open at 7 p.m. and the music begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15 each with advance reservations and $20 at the door.
