School Year Gets Off to Great Start for San Marino Unified School District

By Krista Daly

School is back in session.

Major maintenance and capital projects were completed at the individual school sites over the summer to help improve campus life for the year. Roughly $2.5 million was spent for these projects.

This includes the high school career center remodeling, the high school tennis court resurfacing, the Valentine parking lot lighting project and the Valentine shade structure project as well as the painting of the Huntington auditorium, Huntington’s election upgrade and Carver’s piping project and driveway project. Jim Fahey, director of Maintenance and Operations, gave a report to the SMUSD Board of Education on Tuesday, Aug. 25. He thanked the custodial staff for their hard work in doing the summer detailing of all classrooms and facilities.

Thanks to great looking campuses, new classes along with new teachers and staff, each school has had a fantastic start to the academic year. The principals presented an opening of the year report to the school board on Tuesday.
