San Marino Mail Theft Suspects in Police Custody

On Wednesday, Sept. 9 at approximately 3:30 a.m., an officer with the San Marino Police Department observed a vehicle stopped near the commercial business area of Huntington Drive and Bedford Road. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and contacted the occupants. Upon further investigation it was determined that the driver, later identified as Rosendo Navarro, 33, and passenger Jennifer Aguilera, 29, were in possession of several pieces of stolen mail, some of those included stolen checks.

Officers conducted checks of Post Office drop boxes. The mailboxes located at 980 Huntington Drive and 2060 Huntington Drive had a sticky substance around the opening that appeared to be fresh. At this time, 11 victims in the cities of San Marino, San Gabriel, South Pasadena and Alhambra have been identified from the recovered mail.

Both suspects were booked at Alhambra Jail on charges of Identity Theft, Grand Theft, Possession of Stolen Property, Providing False Information to a Peace Officer and other drug related charges.
