San Marino Police Department Arrests Bank Robbery Suspect

On Sept. 10, 2015 at approximately 12:27 p.m., South Pasadena Police notified the San Marino Police Department of an attempted bank robbery that had just occurred in their city, and the suspect fled in a white Volkswagon. At 12:30 p.m. an officer from San Marino Police located the vehicle at Huntington Drive and Bradbury Road and ran the license plate through dispatch. The license plate came back with a warrant for PC 211/Robbery.

San Marino Police Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle, but the driver accelerated in an attempt to flee from officers. Officers pursued the suspect vehicle through several cities until the suspect eventually stopped at Mission Drive and Halkett Avenue in the city of Rosemead.

Officers from San Marino Police were able to take the suspect, later identified as Joseph Adel Noriega (37) out of Rancho Cucamonga, into custody without incident.

The suspect was wanted by the FBI for at least six prior bank robberies throughout Los Angeles and San Bernardino Counties.

Officers from the South Pasadena Police Department responded and took over the investigation.

Questions relating to this case should be directed towards South Pasadena Police Detective Bureau.
