San Marino City Club hosted a Voter’s Forum on Sept. 21 at San Marino High School’s Webb Theatre featuring the five candidates vying for two seats on City Council at the Nov. 3, 2015 election.

Incumbent Councilman Dennis Kneier, Scott Kwong, Dr. Steven Huang, incumbent Mayor Eugene Sun and Steve Talt spoke about their respective backgrounds, qualifications and views regarding issues facing San Marino.

San Marino Tribune Editor Mitch Lehman served as moderator for the event and asked five prepared questions, none of which the candidates had seen before the event. The candidates also took part in a new segment, during which they they answered anonymous questions that had been posed by their opponents. The audience also was able to submit questions, a select number of which were asked by Lehman of the candidates.

To assure fairness, lots were drawn to determine which candidate spoke first and the order was then rotated.

Kneier is a retired Deloitte partner and a CPA, Kwong has his own auto repair shop, Huang is a dentist with his own practice, Sun is a real estate broker and Talt is an attorney with his own law practice.
