2 ArtCenter Students’ Designs Lauded by Jaguar

By Stacy Lee

Imagine being able to create a design for one of the world’s best known luxury car brands and then receiving feedback from that company’s top experts?

Then imagine your design being chosen by that car company as a vision for a sports car for the year 2030. That’s just what happened recently for ArtCenter College of Design students Hyun Jun (Richard) Yoh, 22, of Singapore and Eirik Stensrud, 23, of Norway, when Jaguar chose their work as representative of the spirit of a Design Challenge launched by the company this past summer.

The Jaguar-sponsored program was offered to the Pasadena college as well as Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Jack Liu was chosen from AAU. All three students received a scholarship from Jaguar.

Richard said he was really excited when he learned his design was chosen. “I worked really hard on it.”

“I was really happy and really honored that I created something that they really liked,” Eirik said.

“This actually goes back to some conversations with Ian Callum, who is the head of design for Jaguar,” said Stewart Reed, ArtCenter College of Design Transportation Design Department chair. “Ian is one of my favorite designers and we finally ended up doing a project for him for the Jaguar Team from England.”
