San Marino pounded Monrovia and Temple City by scores of 18-0 and 15-3, respectively, to open their defense of the Rio Hondo league championship.
Maddi Schmidt & Sophia Lee went a combined 6-0 in doubles action to pace the Lady Titans, followed by Libby Chang & Sabrina Lieu (3-0), Caitlyn Nguyen & Dahlys Ang (5-1) and Hayley Fagerberg & Ariana Harvey (2-1). San Marino’s singles were almost unbeatable in the two Rio Hondo League matches, as Madeleine Gandawidjaja, Emily Hsaio, Haley Fagerberg, Libby Chang, Sabrina Lieu and Emily Hsaio collected a 17-1 aggregate mark.
The Lady Titans bumped into more formidable competition this past Monday, dropping a 10-8 decision to Campbell Hall, a squad San Marino might see again in the playoffs. Senior Devon Jack went 3-0 on singles play, but the Lady Titans had to look to doubles for the other points. Caitlyn Nguyen and Kayla Chen finished 1-1, while the duos of Schmidt & Lee and Chang & Lieu each finished 2-1.
