Lin Continues ‘His Calling’ in Education at San Marino’s Huntington Middle School

By Stacy Lee

Huntington Middle School Assistant Principal Michael Lin hadn’t originally planned for a career in education, but a national tragedy led him to what he refers to as “my calling.”

“There’s a lot of meaning and satisfaction in this field,” he said.

At the time of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, Lin was pursuing his MBA and working for a dot-com in New York City.

He had a friend and colleague named Eugene Lazar who he seemed to have everything in common with from going to school together, working at the same place and both being engaged to be married at the same time.

Lazar was valedictorian the year before Lin was at Grover Cleveland High School in Ridgewood, Queens. They both attended The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in Manhattan.
