San Marino High School’s marching band received first place awards in the Band and Auxiliary categories in the 4A division at last Saturday’s Golden State Field Show, which was held at Glen A. Wilson High School in Hacienda Heights.

The Band finished with a score of 78.5 and the Auxiliary tallied 74.5 points. The Percussion ranked within the three top divisions (4A, 5A and 6A) and earned second place honors with an overall score of 80.5.

The Titan Marching Band has two remaining competitions on Saturday, Nov. 7 at the Los Altos Field Show, which is held at La Puente High School, and on Saturday, Nov. 14 at the Moorpark Field Show at Moorpark High School. The band will also most likely qualify for the SCSBOA Championships, held at Warren High School on Saturday, Nov. 21.

“We had a nice performance,” said Music Director Mark de la Vega, whose group bested 12 other bands for the top spot in their division.

Throughout the summer from June through August, every morning at zero period, and every Thursday evening, the Marching Band students have practiced their technical skills, musicality, and marching techniques to prepare for their competition season.
