Undefeated in league, SMHS’ Varsity girls golf won the Pacific League championship and competed at the Northern Division CIF Team Championship.

Nearing the end of the girls golf season, the Lady Titans also won the Junior Varsity Girls Golf Pacific League championship.

On October 20, senior Alex Chen, juniors Cameron McCrary and Vivian Sun, sophomore Bella Setio, and freshman Ada Wong traveled to Oxnard, California to play at the River Ridge Golf Club for Pacific League Individual Championships.

Chen, McCrary, Setio, Sun, and Wong shot 85, 76, 78, 81, and 80, respectively. Wong earned 2nd place, McCrary earned 3rd, Setio earned 4th, Sun earned 6th, and Chen earned 7th. Each of the  Lady Titans qualified past the championships.

“We all have the ability to go low and now it’s just a matter of consistently shooting solid rounds. I really believe we can make it to state this year and contend for the title,” senior captain Chen said.

The day after, the JV Girls Golf team competed at the Altadena Golf Course for its league final match. Seniors Loriann Hom and Valerie Wang, sophomore Chloe Tsui, and freshmen Megan Chang, Jan Estandarte, and Chloe Lok earned 54, 44, 46, 44, 44, and 42, respectively. With the league lowest score, Lok earned first place medalist. Chang, Estandarte, and Wang tied for second place medalist.

This Monday, Chen, McCrary, Setio, Sun, and Wong traveled back to Oxnard to play for the CIF Individual Northern Regional Tournament at River Ridge Golf Club. Only Wong, Setio, and Sun qualified with scores of 72, 76, and 77, respectively.

Junior Varsity is done for the season, but Varsity Girls Golf continues to play on.
