A matter of height kept another project from moving forward in the Design Review Committee.
The proposed new two-story residence and new two-story garage on 2630 Lorain Road was before the DRC again on Wednesday, Oct. 21 after committee members asked the applicant to make changes, including reducing the height, at the Sept. 16 meeting. Though changes were made, the applicant came back with an even taller house with a height of 27 feet 6 inches.
The DRC voted 4-1, with Strefan Fauble as the dissenting vote, to deny the project. Vice Chair Frank Hsu said the height is excessive with the width of the home.
DRC member Kevin Cheng said he believed the applicant was trying to shoehorn this project into a small lot. He also voiced his concern over the large basement stating the space could easily be converted into livable area after approval.
