A Special Thanksgiving from our Archives

On Thanksgiving we are always grateful for the health and safety of our family and friends, and back in 1944 the same sentiment rang true for San Marino’s Mobus family. During World War II Capt. John and Lt. Charles Mobus both served in the U.S. Air Force and U.S.N.R., respectfully. Both sons arrived home nearly simultaneously to celebrate the holiday with their families, as well as their father’s birthday.

Lt. John Mobus served in the European Theatre of Operations while Capt. Charles Mobus flew in the vanguard of every airborne operation of the war from North Africa to Normandy and Southern France. Serving in some of the most dangerous regions of the war, including the invasion of Holland, these American heroes were able to take a much-needed break from the horrors of war.

San Marino has a long history of individuals serving in our Armed Forces and this Thanksgiving, as with every Thanksgiving, we are thankful for all our Veterans and those currently serving at home and abroad.
