Projects Go Through Multiple Hearings, But Residents Receive No Notice After the First One

Though errors in the plans for 2670 Wallingford Road caused the Design Review Committee to continue the case to Dec. 2, San Marino residents still stood up and voiced their concerns about the whole DRC process.
The project was already continued from Oct. 7. James Ma, a neighbor adjacent to property owners Grand Wallingford, LLC, said he didn’t receive notification for the second hearing, and was concerned he would not receive notice for the third hearing.
“I think this gentleman is pointing out something that’s wrong with the system right now,” said San Marino resident Shirley Jagels. “Seems to me the system is in need of some serious help.”
In public comment before this specific case, she said she hoped the city would look at the standards in Laguna Beach, in which they have an objective third party make sure the neighbors are aware of potential projects and significant construction coming up in their neighborhood.
