San Marino High School’s ‘November to Remember’ continued with a historical performance by the Titan Marching Band, who Nov. 21 made only its second appearance in the Southern California Schools Band & Orchestra Association 4A Division Field Championships at Warren High School. Similar to the CIF championships in a sports analogy. There, the band earned 11th position while the auxiliary ensemble – color guard – earned 12th place. The percussion unit earned second position, just 1-1/2 points behind the eventual champion. San Marino High School first appeared in this event in 2013, placing 12th in the 3A Division.

“Having the opportunity to perform at the championships is vindication of the students’ hard work and a focus on developing a strong work ethic and life skills results in a worthwhile and relevant educational experience,” said SMHS’s new Instrumental Music Director, Mark de la Vega. “To achieve this level of success, a program must have committed students, a well-established program and strong support from parents, school and the community. Our accomplishments in this year are due to the support and dedicated efforts by many.”
