The Pasadena Playhouse will be bringing back all the favorite characters inside Peter Pan’s world – Wendy, her brothers John and Michael, Captain Hook, Tinker Bell, Tiger Lily and many others. The story will be familiar to anyone who knows Peter Pan, but this time they will have a holiday adventure in “Peter Pan and Tinker Bell –A Pirates Christmas.”
Captain Hook’s crew kidnaps Tiger Lily and uses her as bait in an attempt to get Peter Pan, said Nikki SooHoo, who plays Tiger Lily. Peter Pan does come to save her, but there is clearly some tension between Wendy and Tiger Lily.
The play’s differences are through its interpretation. It combines a condensed version of the movie and adds pop culture references such as Bruno Mars and Taylor Swift, said SooHoo, known for her roles in “Stick It” and “The Lovely Bones.”
“It’s a cool take on Peter Pan,” she said.
“Peter Pan and Tinker Bell – A Pirates Christmas” opens Dec. 9, and runs through Jan. 3. For more information, see pasadenaplayhouse.org.
