Experts say a significant amount of rain could come as early as Christmas, flooding the city and surrounding areas.
“I’m afraid some people may not be taking this as seriously as they could,” said San Marino Deputy Fire Chief Mark Phillips. El Nino comes about every 10 years – the last time Phillips said he ended up pulling people out of cars because of the flooding.
“I don’t want anyone to be lax or comfortable,” he said.
People should be prepared for an emergency like they would in an earthquake. It’s possible it could be difficult to get to a hospital or a grocery store, so it’s important to stock up on medicine and food.
