Artist Roth Exhibits at Crain Art Gallery

After retiring as a minister from a local church, Marilyn Roth was able to devote more time to her love of painting.

Roth’s artwork is currently on display at Crowell Public Library’s Crain Art Gallery in an exhibition called “Watercolor Impressions by Marilyn Roth.”

“I’ve been painting for probably 20 years,” Roth said. “But I was employed most of that time. I retired five or six years ago. Then I began to study with Eva Margueriette, who has made a big difference in the quality of my work. Also, I’ve been able to devote a lot more time to it.”

She is an ordained unity minister and served the Unity Church of Pasadena for 24 years.

“I love her use of color!” Eva Margueriette said. “Rev. Marilyn Roth has created an extraordinary exhibit featuring mixed media, collage and watercolor. One of my favorite pieces, ‘Côte d’ Azur,’ an ancient walled city at sunset, was inspired by our recent plein air painting trip to Saint-Paul de Vence on the French Riviera. Of the trip to the French Riviera, Roth said, “This was the first time I’ve been there. I was enthralled. It’s just beautiful.”
