City’s Cell Towers May Have Found 2 New Homes

Tony’s Pizza and Colonial Kitchen Are Being Analyzed as New Locations for the Two Towers Currently at SMUSD

Although the plans are not finalized, American Tower is now looking at Tony’s Pizza and Colonial Kitchen as the new locations for the two cell towers currently housed on San Marino Unified School District property.

The cell company still needs to speak with the property owners of these two locations as well as conduct a RFP study to determine what kind of coverage will be provided, said Planning and Building Director Aldo Cervantes. The Planning Commission will also need to approve a conditional use permit for the plans.

If approved, the tower at San Marino High School – which hosts Verizon and T-Mobile – would be moved to Tony’s Pizza, at the corner of Huntington Drive and Winston Ave., where a trash enclosure and one parking space would have to be removed. The tower at the Huntington Middle School, which services Verizon customers, would be relocated to the Colonial Kitchen. No height restrictions are in place for these towers.
