“Patterns in Passing,” an exhibition of photographs by San Marino resident Bill Youngblood, will be shown through Feb. 12 in The Crain Art Gallery at the Crowell Public Library.

Youngblood discovered his passion and joy for photography growing up here in San Marino. Camera explorations around town and at The Huntington Library, during years at Huntington Middle School and San Marino High School, expanded his visual awareness and interest in the art form.

Graduating as photo editor at the Titan Shield followed by a degree in Journalism at USC

Annenberg and then studies with Ansel Adams, Arnold Newman, Julius Schulman and Ruth Bernhard among others set the compass on a journey of over three decades as a professional photographer.

“Coming full circle, this show is a homecoming of sorts,” said Youngblood. “While my daily assignments focus on illustrating the stories of people in the corporate, academic and not-for-profit setting, this exhibition draws the viewer’s attention to those oft-missed patterns and details we all walk by that are rich in form, texture and graphic serendipity.”

Youngblood will be in attendance during the library’s annual birthday party on Jan. 23 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
