Over 90 SMHS parents, alumni, and business and community leaders will be teeing off for the Titans at a private Pasadena golf club on Monday, March 21, at the 8th Annual SMHS Titan Golf Classic – a popular annual community-wide fundraiser in support of the school. In addition to an exciting day of golf, Titan Golf Classic Co-Chairs Renee Olson and Janis Wong promise a fun-filled event for golfers and non-golfers from the community.

Play starts with check-in at 9:30 a.m., putting contest at 10:15 a.m., and a shotgun start at 11 a.m. New this year is the Titan Golf Classic Boutique, featuring such vendors as Treasured Accessories, Beads by Meredith, Susie O Handbags, and Stella & Dot.  The Boutique is free and open to all from 1-5 p.m. Shoppers will also be able to bid on the many great silent auction items.

“We added free admission to the boutique because we want the whole community to be a part of this amazing SMHS tradition,” said Golf Co-chairs Olson and Wong. “Everyone loves to shop, the venue is gorgeous, and while you are getting something you are giving back to our kids at the same time.”

The Titan Golf Classic is presented by the SMHS PTSA as one of its two annual major fundraisers that give direct support for the high school’s award-winning Arts, athletics, and academic programs. The proceeds provide vital funds for essential classroom materials and supplies, up-to-date athletic safety and training equipment, student enrichment activities, new campus improvements, and much more that is requested each school year by teachers, coaches, Administration, and staff. All funds raised ensure that current and future SMHS students will have the same exceptional, well-rounded education that makes SMHS No. 1 in the state.

Once the tournament play ends the festivities continue at 4 p.m. with the silent auction and cocktails followed by a lavish dinner, live auction, opportunity drawing, paddle raise, and awards ceremony. The silent auction features something for everyone and the live auction includes a Wolfgang Puck 5-Course Dinner, La Quinta Vacation Home Week Getaway, Owens Valley private duck hunting excursion, Single Stone of San Marino earrings, “Titan” sapphire & diamond ring, beaver cap sleeve fur jacket from Somper Furs, and SMHS reserved parking. All of which can be previewed at www.titangolfclassic.com. Proxy bidding for the live auction can be submitted via e-mail to titangolfclassic@gmail.com by 5 p.m. on Friday, March 18.

Another great way to support in particular if you are unable to attend the event is to purchase a raffle ticket for the opportunity drawing. This year’s prize is an open-ended $1,200 gift certificate for the beautiful, AAA Five Star Ojai Valley Inn & Spa. The winner can customize their own Inn package of world-championship golf, fine dining, and other VIP amenities including a 31,000 sq. ft. Spa Village. A special spa basket is also included. The winner need not be present and there are no date restrictions. Tickets are $100 for one and $200 for three.
