A vacation trip to the Windy City by San Marino’s Short Family yielded chance photo ops with two of Chicago’s most iconic sports personalities. Riley Short bumped into eclectic Cubs Manager Joe Maddon, who has the Cubs positioned in first place. Later, Riley and Connor Short were able to meet Mike Ditka, a member of both the College and Pro Football Halls of Fame and Super Bowl-winning coach while with the Bears. Riley – the self-described “biggest Cubs fan in the world” – also had a rare opportunity to run the bases after a game at Wrigley Field.
“Meeting Joe Maddon and getting to run the bases at Wrigley was an amazing experience,” said Riley.
Connor appreciated meeting the legendary Ditka.
“Meeting a football coaching legend and Hall of Fame player, like Coach Ditka, was awesome,” he said.
