SMPD to Host Second ‘Coffee with a Cop’ on Oct. 22

The San Marino Police Department wants to hear from you on Oct. 22 at its second “Coffee with a Cop.” The event will be held at the Starbucks at 2265 Huntington Drive, San Marino from 8 to 9 a.m.

SMPD welcomes any community members wanting to ask questions, voice concerns or chat with local police officers.

The department promises there will be no agenda nor speeches, just officers connecting with their community.

SMPD’s first ‘Coffee with a Cop’ event was held on Friday, June 24. Seven officers were present to speak with residents at the well-attended gathering.

Sergeant Candice Torres, who organized the first ‘Coffee with a Cop,’ said the event is “a chance for residents to just come out and meet, chat, ask questions, or voice concerns with their local police officers over a cup of coffee.”

“Typically police officers find their interaction with residents when they are reporting a crime or some other need for police service. We would like to change that,” she added.
