East Meets West Celebrates the Chinese New Year

The East Meets West Parent Education Club, a nonprofit organization headquartered in San Marino, will sponsor a Chinese New Year’s celebration on Saturday, Jan. 28, from 3-6 p.m., at the Live Oak Park Community Center (10144 Bogue St., Temple City 91780). The purpose of this event is to celebrate the Lunar New Year as well as to raise funds for the club’s charity mission, supporting homeless centers and orphanages in the Los Angeles area. Community leaders and Mayor Dr. Richard Sun and his wife, Ivy, will present Chinese New Year’s legends and stories. The celebration will have many other highlights, including authentic Chinese New Year’s food, a lion dance, dumpling making, traditional calligraphy, Chinese instrumental music, songs, dance and a Shaolin Kung Fu presentation.
