Golden Streets Slated for March 5

After being delayed by last summer’s wildfires, Metro’s introductory 626 Golden Streets celebration is slated to ride out from South Pasadena to Azusa on Sunday, March 5.
Surface streets will be opened for people to walk, jog, bike and skate along the entire route that day in a belated commemoration of the Metro Gold Line’s opening. In San Marino, the westbound portion of Huntington Drive will be closed to automobile traffic between Garfield Avenue and Sunset Avenue to accommodate the celebration.
Local organizations, community groups and businesses will set up stands at their physical locations and at various hubs along the way. The purpose of the event is to raise awareness about the Gold Line (which services each of the cities along the route), encourage locals to consider using the Metro more and to expose residents to what neighboring communities offer. No registration is required.
Air quality following wildfires in the San Gabriel Mountain Range near Duarte, Azusa and Glendora caused officials to postpone the event on its original date of June 26, 2016.
