San Marino High School Principal Mary Johnson announced at a staff luncheon this afternoon that she will retire effective June 30. While students were enjoying their final day of Spring Break, teachers, administrators and staff members were at their respective sites for an in-service day, hence Johnson’s decision to make her announcement.
“I’m feeling a bit like I just jumped out of the plane and my parachute has not yet deployed,” Johnson said in an email to The Tribune. “But I hear life is great on the other side, so I jumped.”
“The past thirteen years at San Marino High School have been a gift in my life and it is not easy to say good-bye to our dedicated staff, amazing students, exceptional parents, and community members who cannot do enough for our school,” Johnson said in an announcement to the community. “I thank you for welcoming me to the school and community. I shall hold you in my heart forever.”
