HMS Student Advances To State Spelling Bee

Audrey Jung, a 6th grader at Huntington Middle School, finished in second place at the Los Angeles County Spelling Bee on Wednesday, Mar. 29 at the Almansor Court in Alhambra.

Audrey will represent Huntington Middle School at the State Spelling Bee, which will be held in Stockton at the San Joaquin Office of Education on Saturday, May 13.

“We’re very proud of her, but particularly because of the way she approached the competition and the way she carried herself,” said Audrey father, Dr. Alexander Jung, noting that Audrey approached the process with respect and discipline.

“We are very proud of the hard work and dedication Audrey has given to preparing and succeeding in this valuable competition. She represents the best of Huntington Middle School and San Marino,” HMS Principal Jason Kurtenbach told The Tribune.

Audrey is the daughter of Susan and Alexander Jung of San Marino. HMS 6th grade teacher Sheila Doan sponsored Audrey in the Spelling Bee.
