Trespassing Suspect In Custody

San Marino Police officers transported Jason Ortiz, 34, to Alhambra Jail, where he was booked on charges of trespassing and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, after a resident informed the San Marino Police Department of a suspicious person on her property.

From The Tribune’s office on Mission Street, Ortiz could be seen being taken into custody on the sidewalk outside of the residential property located in the 2700 block of Doresta Road.

At approximately 11:10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 28, the resident called 9-1-1 when she noticed someone in her rear yard and an unknown gray Ford Focus in her driveway, which leads directly into the rear yard, as she returned home.

When officers arrived, they spotted Ortiz exiting the rear yard. Further investigation revealed that he had knocked on the front door, side door and rear door with no legitimate reason to be on the property.

A SMPD press release stated, “The victim did not know the suspect and did not give permission for anyone to be on her property. A search of Ortiz’s vehicle showed he was also in possession of a prescription medication that did not belong to him.”

Anyone with information information regarding the above incident or similar incidents should contact Detective Garcia at (626) 300-0726.
