The Greater Los Angeles Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America honored Andy Barth last week at its 2017 Good Character Gala at the Langham Huntington Hotel.
Barth, chairman of Capital Trust Company and director of Capital Group International, grew up in New York and was an active Scout for 10 years, earning the rank of Eagle. Barth became involved in Scouting again with his son, Andrew Jr., who earned his Eagle with Troop 355 in San Marino.
The gala chair was Tim Greenleaf and the emcee for the evening was the 2016 Good Character Award recipient, John Semcken III, from Majestic Realty. Jose Osuna, from Homeboy Industries, spoke about the positive impact Scouting has provided in his inner-city community, which is heavily influenced by gangs.
The proceeds raised in excess of $300,000 will fund the Greater Los Angeles Area Council so that it can continue to provide a distinct experience and opportunity for youth, adult volunteers and partner organizations.
