The Huntington Library held its Harvest Moon Celebration recently with more than 900 guests in attendance. Now in its fifth year, the popular event commemorates the centuries-old tradition of the autumn moon festival, celebrated in China and many parts of Asia as a time to gather with loved ones, eat sweet moon cakes and celebrate the abundance of life under the light of the harvest moon.
The event was held in and around the Huntington’s Chinese Garden — Liu Fang Yuan, the Garden of Flowing Fragrance — a space ideally suited to promoting cross-cultural exchange through public programs.
Guests enjoyed the sights, sounds and flavors of a traditional Chinese festival, including live music performed lakeside. Nearly two dozen local restaurants offered tastings of Asian-inspired cuisine, fine wines, beer and spirits.
