San Marino Priced Among Nation’s Wealthiest Areas

San Marino has earned yet another superlative, with its ZIP Code 91108 being ranked the 35th most expensive in the nation by website PropertyShark.com.

The ZIP Code, which was ranked the 25th most expensive in the state, boasts a median housing sale price of $2.15 million, according to PropertyShark, which reported in its end-of-year ranking that 77 of the nation’s 100 most expensive American ZIP Codes are in California, and include five among the top 10.
San Marino’s national ranking represents a step back from 2016, when the ZIP Code ranked 30th in the nation, although the median housing sale price increased from $2,128,500 the previous year.
The most expensive ZIP Code in the nation is Atherton, in San Mateo County, with a median sale price last year of $4.95 million. In the 2019 Census, Atherton recorded the nation’s highest median income per household, at more than $250,000.
The data compiled by PropertyShark accounts for all residential transactions closed in 2017, including single-family homes, two-family homes, co-ops and condos.
Los Angeles County featured more entries on the list than any other in the nation, with 18 locations making the top 100.
Those ZIP Codes included parts of Beverly Hills (Nos. 5 and 40); Santa Monica (6); Los Angeles (19 and 41), Malibu (26); Manhattan Beach (30); Los Angeles (19, 38, 83 and 84); Venice (56); La Cañada Flintridge (64); Palos Verdes Peninsula (75); Hermosa Beach (76); Santa Monica (77); Duarte (79) and Encino (79).
