BREAKING: Gabriel Crispo Identified As Street Racing Crash Victim

The Los Angeles County Coroner’s office has identified the victim of Thursday’s tragic death that took place on Huntington Drive.

Gabriel Crispo, a former Spanish teacher at Daniel Murphy High and St. Francis High Schools who was also a member of the faculty at Pasadena City College, died at 10:35 a.m. on Thursday, July 4 during a street racing incident. A San Gabriel resident, Crispo was described by a former colleague as “A nice guy. A really nice guy.” Crispo was of Argentinian descent and one of his social media pages features photos of Lionel Messi, a star of Argentina’s national soccer team.

A person with knowledge of the accident who went immediately to the scene told The Tribune that Crispo was killed immediately when he was struck by a white Mercedes that was involved in a street racing event.

The San Marino Police Department arrested two 17-year-old boys on suspicion of vehicular homicide.

According to witnesses, two cars–a blue Toyota and a white Mercedes–were traveling westbound on Huntington Drive at a high rate of speed when the Mercedes attempted to cut off the Toyota. The driver of the Mercedes lost control of his vehicle and struck Crispo and his dog in the median at Kenilworth, where they were crossing Huntington Drive. The dog also died in the incident. It is rumored that a third vehicle may have taken part in the street race.
