The material for certain parts of the arm are being reassessed as well. Compliant wheels were deemed by team members to be more efficient than other types of wheels, for it allows the drive team more maneuverability and speed without fear of damaging other parts of the robot, thanks to the flexible nature of the wheels. The robot’s limelight was tested and remounted by a newly manufactured mount. A limelight is a camera designed specifically for robotics competitions. It is a plug-and-play device, which means the camera works with a computer system the moment it is connected, without the need of the users to manually install or change anything.
Much of the team’s effort is also being focused toward work for the school and student body. Other than competition groundwork, work sessions are occupied with making repairs and refinements on the team’s t-shirt cannon, [Ti]rone—distinguished for its appearances at school football games—and the assembling and distribution of safety signs used by all of the high school’s teachers during drills and emergencies. With Fall Classic just around the corner and so much needed to get done, the team needs as many hands on board as possible during work sessions. Work sessions take place on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 2 – 6 p.m. in the robotics room (308). All are welcome and every amount of help is appreciated. Hope to see you at the next work session!
