Delicious Destinations Set for November 16th

DATE IS BOOKED: Members of the San Marino Public Library Foundation are ready to go on a journey around California for Delicious Destinations. PICTURED ABOVE, left to right, are TOP ROW: Hal Suetsugu, Elsie Wu, Su Viswanathan, Julie Barbour, Debra Sadun, Mary Ulin, Po-Chi Lin and Chris Datwyler. FRONT ROW: Gloria Wong, Sue Kim, Sylvia Koh and Yvonne Cheng.

On Saturday, November 16 at 6 p.m., the San Marino Public Library Foundation will transform the Crowell Public Library into the sights, sounds, and epicurean delights of the Great State of California. The Foundation invites the community to come and re-connect with California’s majestic Sequoias, grand landscapes, the magic of Hollywood, the nostalgic clang of cable cars, and the taste temptations of international cuisine at this state’s doorstep… guests will embark on a journey re-discovering beautiful California at Delicious Destinations.

Delicious Destinations will transport party goers with culinary delights reflecting the global cuisine of California. This year’s tempting dishes will be expertly offered by Alexander’s Prime Meats and Catering and Sierra Fusion. Join us in sampling their seafood creations, prime cuts, sushi, empanadas, and much, much more.

Paired with this gastronomic experience, guests will enjoy musical renditions from the Contemporary Los Angeles Winds, a woodwind quintet, who will delight listeners with light classical and contemporary pieces. A glass of wine and other libations will add to the ambiance.

In addition, this year the Foundation will be hosting a unique boutique open to guests at 5:30 p.m. to shop from the exclusive designs and creations by Moonlite, Ronelle Designs, The Treasured Accessory, Our Heiday, Wee Monster, Jean Waters Fine Accessories, and Blankety Blank Designs.

Guests at Delicious Destinations will be able to bid on spectacular silent auction items, a vacation getaway at a beautiful home at Telluride with a view of Trout Lake; a luxury boating and dining experience on a privately captained vessel on Newport harbor; exclusive and private museum tours including the Battleship Iowa, Caltech, the Huntington Library, the Gamble House; and a private tour of the Amazon, including Dobbler Building, the Sphere and the Amazon Go and 4-star stores, and Los Angeles Dodger tickets.

Delicious Destinations is being organized by the San Marino Public Library Foundation, a supporting arm of the library. This year’s Delicious Destinations will set the groundwork to provide funding for the replacement of the 36 public internet access computers, which have been in service since 2015 and provided over 36,000 hours of public service last year, and for adult programming for the coming year. The library provided over 200 adult programs last year with over 4,900 in attendance. The Foundation is enthusiastic to assist the library as it continues to provide quality service and programs to the community.

As the public library serving the city of San Marino, the Crowell Public Library serves more than 20,000 patrons a month.

“We’re pleased to be offering this community event to help raise funds for our library,” said Hal Suetsugu, president of the board of the San Marino Public Library Foundation. “It was modeled after a very successful library fundraiser that’s become a major social event in Ketchum, Idaho. And now, Delicious Destinations has become a highly-anticipated annual event for San Marino as well.”

Those interested in booking a tour of California and journeying to Delicious Destinations can purchase tickets at the library, or by going to the event website, www.DeliciousDestinations.org.

Sponsorship opportunities for the Delicious Destinations event are available by contacting Cindy Chan at the Crowell Public Library of San Marino- cchan@cityofsanmarino.org or at deliciousdestinations.org.
