Teacher Features Pupils At Crowell Library Exhibition

San Marino artist Eva Margueriette furing a plein air painting trip at the Huntington Library, Art Museum and Botanical Gardens. Eva is presenting an exhibition of works created by 22 of her students at the Crowell Public Library.

The many fans and followers of San Marino artist Eva Margueriette will be able to see the creations of her students during a special exhibition in the Crain Gallery at the Crowell Public Library. An exhibition of her work and artists’ reception will be held on Saturday, December 7 from 3–4:00 p.m.

Eva has been painting, and teaching watercolor and oil painting in San Marino since 1986 and is introducing a group of 22 emerging artists to the community.

“Each artist has a unique gift to give, and I encourage them to develop their own way of seeing as they study the classic, fundamentals of painting,” Eva said.

Featured artists include Fran Woodmansee, Diane Watson, Molly Taylor, Linda Salinas, Marilyn Roth, Margaret Miser, Linda Mollno, Marilyn Morse, Dana Marevich, Dorothy Lloyd, Rosanne Kusar, Lee Johnson, Cindy Ingle, Cacilie Gottling, Susan Gessford, Deb Fox, Tina Frausto, Pat Courvoisier, Elene Chamberlain, Charles Clark, Debbie Bohne and Liz Argue.

Eva graduated from Monrovia High School at the age of 17 and received a full scholarship to the Chouinard Art Institute. Before concentrating on the plein air landscape technique, Eva was a portrait painter, hundreds of commissioned watercolor portraits, including corporate paintings for the Gould Law School, the Dermatology School at USC, the Jonathan Club in Los Angeles and business leaders Charles Pankow and Robert Kommerstad, who, along with his wife, Lila, purchased 55 of Eva’s paintings.

Eva opened a studio in San Marino in 1986 and has been teaching oil, watercolor and drawing here ever since.

“The study of painting is a lifetime pursuit,” Eva said of her 57-year career, so far.

The exhibition is free, open to the public, and will be on display through Saturday, January 5,, 2020.
